Ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A circulating unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's gender.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
